Turkish womens volleyball team have won their first game at the Tokyo Olympics on July 25. Defending champions china were stunned by a straight set win 3-0 by the Turkish Volleyball team.
China who have in the past dominated Olympic Volleyball with 6 medals including three gold, were overpowered by the dark horse of the tournament.
“Right now we’re so happy because we know that Chinese are a great team, they have incredibly talented players and they are the Olympic champions,” Turkey captain Eda Dundar, who led the match with four blocks, told reporters.
Turkey will now face Italy in their second game on July 27.
